FAQs

For a gymnast’s safety and best possible learning experience, we have provided answers to some of the most Frequently Asked Questions.

Our goal at Clipper City Gymnastics is to ensure to the best of our abilities that your child’s experience here is a positive one.  We place an emphasis on safety, fun, social skills, and learning gymnastics.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation. Should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to speak to us before or after any class, email beth@clippercitygym.com,  or call (978) 388-2666 anytime.

WHAT AGES DO YOU TEACH?

We accept students as young as 15 months old, in our Toddler programs, and have programs for all ages and abilities up through High School.

WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?

We accept cash or checks only. There is a $20.00 return check fee.

WHEN CAN I SIGN UP?

During the school year, we run four 9 week terms. New students are accepted at the beginning of each term. Once the school year is underway, many of our classes stay full for the year, as most students re-enroll for subsequent terms.  However, we accept new students as space allows.

WHAT IS APPROPRIATE ATTIRE FOR CLASSES?

Girls should wear leotards, or other workout clothing. All students need to be bare foot in class, so tights that cover the feet are not allowed.  All hair must be tied back. Please keep in mind that the children will be tumbling so plastic headbands and elastics with large plastics figures or balls are not recommended.   No jewelry (except stud earrings) may be worn.  Boys should wear gym shorts and tee-shirts, or sweatsuits, but no jeans or pants that have buckles or zippers. All t-shirts must be tucked in.

DO YOU HAVE A COMPETITIVE TEAM?

Our program is recreational; however we do have a team that trains using USAG skill levels and routines. Our team generally attends meets 2-3 times a year to gain experience in competition, and we do exhibitions several times a year.

WHAT IS OPEN GYM?

Open Gym is held on Friday afternoons during the school year. It is a supervised non-structured workout time, and is open to the public as well as to our students.  It is a good way to try gymnastics before signing up for a whole term, and is also an opportunity  for students to gain extra practice. This is our only drop in class. Any child attending Open Gym who is not a current student must have a parent complete a release form prior to participating.  Open Gym Times are 3:30-4:15 for ages 6 and under, for $8.00, and 4:30-5:45 for ages 7 and over, for $10.00.

VIEWING POLICY

Parents may leave the building or wait in our waiting area during class.  No one is allowed in the gym area except students and their instructors.  The presence of parents can be a distraction for students, and we request that you respect our need as teachers to have your child’s complete attention.  A child who hears a parent offering suggestions or instructions, is at a higher risk of injury. If you must “peek” at your child during class, we ask that you be discreet and quiet at all times.   For your convenience we offer a comfortable waiting area with WI FI.

REFUND POLICY

There is a $20.00 non-refundable  registration fee included in the class fee each term. Refunds (minus this fee) will only be given prior to the first class of the term.  No refunds will be given after the first class of the term- credit may be given if we are notified within a reasonable time that a student is unable to attend class.  All classes missed due to illness or other unforeseen circumstances may be made up at Open Gym within the 2 week time frame.

CLASS CANCELLATIONS

When Amesbury schools cancel due to bad weather, we will cancel morning classes. A decision on whether to hold afternoon/evening classes will be made, keeping in mind the forecast and current driving conditions. We will record an announcement on our machine at least 1 hour before the class time.

If Amesbury has a delayed opening we will be open at our regular time.  Please be sure to call ahead if you have any questions about cancellations.  Please use your discretion on driving.

Classes canceled due to weather are not rescheduled, however all students are entitled to a makeup class at Open Gym.

MAKE UP POLICY

We understand that illness and other unforeseen circumstances may occasionally prevent your attendance. Students may make up missed classes at Open Gym on Fridays (see OPEN GYMS for times).  Missed classes must be made up within 2 weeks from the absense.  You must sign in at the office—the Open Gym fee will be waived for make ups.
