WHAT AGES DO YOU TEACH?
We accept students as young as 16 months old in our Toddler classes,
and have programs for all ages and abilities up through high school.
WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?
We accept cash or checks only.
DO YOU HAVE A COMPETITIVE TEAM?
Our focus is recreational; however, we do have a team that trains
using USAG skill levels and routines. Our team generally attends
meets outside of our gym once or twice a year, to gain experience
in competition, and we do exhibitions several times a year.
WHEN CAN YOU SIGN UP?
During the school year, we run four 9 week terms. New students are
accepted at the beginning of each term. Once the school year is
underway, many of our classes stay full for the year, as most students
re-enroll for subsequent terms. However, we will accept new students
as space allows.

DO YOU HAVE CLASSES IN THE SUMMER?
Our school year culminates with our annual Gym Show in June. During
July and August, we run “camps” on a one or two week
basis, for various age groups. Our camps are held at our facility,
Monday through Friday, for a half or full day, depending on age.
WHAT IS OPEN GYM?
Open Gym is held on Friday afternoons during the school year. It
is a supervised, non-structured workout time, and is open to the
public as well as to our students. It is a good way to try gymnastics
before signing up for a whole term, and is also an opportunity for
students to gain extra practice. Open Gym times are 3:30-4:15 for
ages 6 and under, for $6.00, and 4:30-5:30 for ages 7 and over,
for $7.00. Any child attending Open Gym who is not a current student
must have a parent complete a release form prior to participating.
MY CHILD IS SHY – CAN I COME
TO CLASS WITH HER?
Except for our Toddler with Parent and Tumblebug Transition classes,
parents are not allowed to be in the practice area during class.
This is for the safety of all of our students, who need to pay attention
to their instructors. If you think your child will not do well without
you, try Open Gym first – parents are allowed in the gym during
Open Gym, and your child can get used to the facility and equipment
at his/her own pace. Then when you are both ready, you can sign
your child up for a regular class.
WHAT ABOUT SAFETY?
Our main focus is teaching children to enjoy gymnastics safely.
Our teachers are safety-certified by USAG, and we stress safe performance
in every class. No horseplay on the equipment is allowed, and students
are always spotted when on trampolines, high bars, and high balance
beams. Although participating in gymnastics can result in injuries,
and accidents can happen despite all preventative measures, we have
an excellent safety record.

WHAT IS APPROPRIATE ATTIRE FOR CLASS?
Girls should wear leotards, or other workout clothing such as leggings.
All students need to be barefoot in class, so tights that cover
the feet are not allowed. All hair must be tied back, and no jewelry
(except stud earrings) may be worn.
Boys should wear gym shorts and tee-shirts, or sweatsuits, but no
jeans or pants that have zippers, buckles, etc. All tee-shirts must
be tucked in.
DO YOU EVER CANCEL CLASSES? HOW DO
YOU MAKE UP A CLASS?
Classes are cancelled only when Amesbury schools close due to bad
weather, and then we cancel morning classes, and open up in the
afternoon if possible, depending on the weather situation later
in the day. If Amesbury schools have a delayed opening, we open
at our regular time. We are also open on some school holidays (see
calendar). If we cancel a class due to snow, or if your child cannot
attend class for some reason, the class may be made up by coming
to an Open Gym session. We do not reschedule any cancelled classes,
since our schedule is set for the entire year, and we offer Open
Gym as a makeup class.

DRESS
All students must wear appropriate gymnastics clothing to class.
Girls should wear leotards and/or gym shorts and tee-shirts (tee-shirts
must be tucked in — not baggy). Footless or stirrup tights
are acceptable; however, all students must be barefoot in class.
Boys should wear gym shorts and tee-shirts (tucked in), or a sweat
suit. NO JEANS, JEANS SHORTS, OR ANY OTHER APPAREL WITH ZIPPERS,
SNAPS, ETC.
All hair, including bangs, must be tied or pulled back away from
face. Please keep in mind that your child will be tumbling, so plastic
headbands and hair elastics with large plastic figures or balls
are not recommended. NO jewelry may be worn during class (except
stud earrings).
VIEWING POLICY
Parents may leave the building or wait in our waiting area during
class. No one is allowed in the practice area except students and
their instructors. (Parents are present for all Toddler classes,
and in the Transition class if necessary.) The presence of parents
can be a distraction for students, and we request that you respect
our need as teachers to have your child’s complete attention,
and your child's need to concentrate on the task at hand. A child
who is “showing off” for mom or dad, or who hears a
parent offering suggestions or instructions, is at a higher risk
of injury. If you must “peek” at your child during class,
we ask that you be discreet and quiet at all times.
MAKEUP POLICY
We understand that illness and other unforeseen circumstances may
occasionally prevent your attendance. Students may make up missed
classes at Open Gym on Fridays (see Programs for Open Gym Times),
not during other classes. Missed classes should be made up within
the same term if possible. You must sign in at Open Gym when you
come to make up the class — the Open Gym fee will be waived
for makeups.

CLASS CANCELLATIONS
When Amesbury schools cancel due to bad weather, we will
cancel morning classes only. A decision on whether to hold classes
in the afternoon and evening will be made by our staff on a case-by-case
basis, keeping in mind the forecast and current driving conditions.
We will record an announcement on our answering machine at least
1 hour before any scheduled class, informing you whether we will
cancel classes or not. If Amesbury schools have a delayed opening,
we will still be open at our regular time. Please be sure to call
ahead to see if we are open if you have any question about weather
conditions. Classes canceled due to weather are not rescheduled;
however all students are entitled to a makeup class at Open Gym
in the event their class is canceled.
PLEASE NOTE: This applies to unexpected cancellations only –
we are open on some school holidays. (See calendar.)
REFUND POLICY
NO REFUNDS ARE GIVEN AFTER THE FIRST CLASS OF EACH TERM. By paying
your class fee, you have purchased a spot in a particular class,
which we will not then sell to anyone else. If you are not sure
your child will like gymnastics, please come to our Open Gym program
to try it out. Refunds, minus a $10.00 registration fee, will be
given prior to the first class of the term only. Once a term has
begun, if your child must drop out for any reason, we will issue
a credit for any remaining class, once we are notified that he/she
will not be returning.

SAFETY
RULES AND CONSIDERATIONS
“BY THE VERY NATURE OF THE ACTIVITY, GYMNASTICS CARRIES
A RISK OF PHYSICAL INJURY. NO MATTER HOW CAREFUL THE GYMNAST AND COACH
ARE, NO MATTER HOW MANY SPOTTERS ARE USED, NO MATTER WHAT HEIGHT IS
USED OR WHAT LANDING SURFACE EXISTS, THE RISK CANNOT BE ELIMINATED.
IT MAY BE REDUCED, BUT NEVER ELIMINATED. THE RISK OF INJURY INCLUDES
MINOR INJURIES SUCH AS BRUISES AND MORE SERIOUS INJURIES SUCH AS BROKEN
BONES, DISLOCATIONS AND MUSCLE PULLS. THE RISK ALSO INCLUDES CATASTROPHIC
INJURIES SUCH AS PERMANENT PARALYSIS OR EVEN DEATH FROM LANDINGS OR
FALLS ON THE BACK, NECK, OR HEAD.” - USA Gymnastics
Our goal at Clipper City Gymnastics is to ensure to the best
of our abilities that your child’s experience here is a positive
one. To minimize the possibility of injury to our students, and
to provide a safe environment in which to learn, we must ask that
all students and their families respect and follow the rules of
the gym:
1. No running in the gym.
2. No gum, candy, or other food is allowed in the practice area.
3. No unauthorized use of the gymnastics equipment. No horseplay
in the gym.
4. No one allowed in the practice area without a staff member —
no spectators in the practice area.
Only Clipper City students are allowed on the equipment, and only
during class and with permission or when instructed to do so, and
only in the proper manner. Students may never use equipment before
or after class, or when no instructor is present.
